SeeMyClouds is an app that provides a platform where students, teachers, scientists, weather enthusiasts, and cloud lovers can share their cloud photos and enjoy the photos of others. Photos of clouds of all types are welcomed as are photos of atmospheric optical effects due to clouds— like sunsets, rainbows, and halos. Photos of clouds associated with severe weather are also encouraged.
This video explains how clouds form. The basic science behind cloud formation is presented at the high-school non-science level. The video is meant to serve as a teaching and learning tool that can be used by teachers, students, and weather and science enthusiasts. It is the first of a series of videos on the science of clouds.
This video demonstrates how The Cloud Machine can be used to show how clouds form in nature. It describes the ingredients needed to make a cloud and the processes needed to turn those ingredients into a cloud.
CloudProf Solutions develops teaching and learning tools for atmospheric science activities. It includes the development of physical demonstrations that can serve as hands-on activities for exploratory learning-by-doing. These demonstrations can serve as in-class aids for instructors at all levels or for self-exploration by anyone interested in the workings of the Earth’s atmosphere.
The Cloud Machine is the first product offered. It is an instrumented acrylic canister in which clouds can be made to illustrate the ingredients and processes needed for cloud formation in nature. The Cloud Machine comes with an instructional booklet that provides a brief description of the science behind cloud formation and step-by-step instructions for making a cloud in the canister (see YouTube video: (https://youtu.be/t8CkMxi5ep0 ) )
Dr. Bruce Albrecht is the sole-proprietor of CloudProf Solutions. He is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Atmospheric Science at the University of Miami.
